Keep your fruit wax and pesticide-free
When we think about nasty things we can find on fruit, we are mostly worried about finding a bug or some dirt. But there are more concerning reasons to properly wash your fruit before consuming it. For example, apples have a layer of wax to keep them shiny, but they also carry some chemicals and pesticides that need to be removed.
A safe way to keep your fruit clean is to go over them lightly with a toothbrush after washing them. First, you should place them in a sink full of water with a couple of drops of food-safe bleach. Then, rinse them well. And, if you want to make sure they are extra clean, scrub them gently to avoid damaging the skin.
