So you’ve got a four-legged friend with a birthday coming up, huh? If you’ve got a big party to plan for, the last thing you want to do is stress over the desserts. Luckily, dogs love to eat anything and everything and they are pretty sure the sun rises and sets in us, so they’re sure to love whatever you make for them. The trick to baking treats for doggos is leaving out the ingredients that aren’t so good for them and supplementing the foods that are. We’ve got you covered with a nice array of things to choose from including cakes, sweet bone treats, and the beloved barkuterie board. Let’s get started!
Pupcakes
These pupcakes are bite-sized and combine flavors your dog is sure to love like peanut butter, banana, and of course, their favorite treat on top! These are especially great if you’re having your good boy or good girl’s birthday party at the dog park or having neighborhood dogs over. Just make sure to have the ingredient list out in case there is a dog attending that can’t have these treats. (Yes, we’re being serious!) Get the full recipe here!
Pup-cake
If your sweet baby goes crazy for a pup cup, then they’ll love this cake that is topped with whipped cream. (This much whipped cream also makes for great photos!) This cake combines honey, applesauce, and peanut butter to create a treat they’ll be dreaming about during their little doggy naps for days to come. Get the full recipe here!
Doggy Doughnuts
Some of us can easily skip a birthday cake, but we’re all about the birthday doughnuts, and your dogs are no different. Some simply prefer doughnuts on their special day. We get it. If you have one of these dogs, start their birthday off right with some peanut butter doughnuts that are topped with, wait for it, bacon bits. Get the full recipe here!
Frozen Treats
If your little friend has a birthday in the spring or summer, then you may want to consider these frozen peanut butter banana treats! These are especially great if you’re planning a pool party for your fur babe and his or her friends, we’re just sayin’. The best part? Three ingredients and a little time in the freezer and these are all done! Get the full recipe here!
Barkuterie Board

You know how much we, as humans, love a good charcuterie board? Now imagine being a dog and receiving a barkuterie board. These are super simple to make and don’t require any baking or freezing unless you choose to whip up something a little homemade for your board, but we like to keep things simple by nabbing our dog’s favorite treats from the shore and maybe incorporate a couple of pup cups, dollops of peanut butter, or even some of their favorite fresh fruit. (It is their birthday, after all!)
