Block Harmful UV Rays, But Make it Fashion

March 16, 2025 by Shelley Thompson

Who else is ready for days spent underneath the warm sunshine? We know we are. But we also care deeply about our skin, and while we love a summer glow as much as anyone, we like a healthy summer glow. So today we’re looking at ways we can block those harmful rays, but stay stylin’.

Easy Breezy Boater Hat

Picture it: you’re enjoying the sunshine, a light breeze, and you’ve got on a striped linen dress, but while you’re loving the sunshine it’s a bit much. You could really go for a hat, but not just any old hat, obviously you’re going to reach for a straw boater hat to not only protect you against harmful UV rays, but look good while doing it. It’s safe to say we love this straw boater hat, and there are a number of looks this hat would compliment; from striped linen dresses to band tees and leopard print skirts you’re sure to look like a million bucks while taking care of your skin.

Our pick: ASOS Design Natural Straw Easy Boater Hat from ASOS ($17.50, shop here)

Neutral, Yet Unique Sunglasses

If you’re looking for the best pair of everyday sunglasses, then look no further! These sunnies are a great neutral tortoise print, but the oversized geometric frame makes them stand out and gives them a little more edge than your classic circular frame. These are perfect for throwing in your bag or keeping in the car for everyday sun protection.

Our pick: Not Standard Tortoise Sunglasses from Lulu’s ($19, shop here)

For Our Y2K Queens, a Bucket Hat

We can’t say enough how much we love this y2k revival, and we find ourselves getting more and more daring. Now, you can find this hat in a number of colors, but we have to admit, we’re kinda really feelin’ the lavender option. It’s the perfect hat for adding character to any outfit, and blocking UV rays as you do it!

Our pick: Smiley Bucket Hat from Urban Outfitters ($30, shop here)

Daze-y

Sunglasses are a summertime must and we’ve already got the neutral shades covered, so now we need a fun pair, right? We think these flower sunglasses from Shein are just what you’re probably lookin’ for. Much like our smiley face bucket hat, these sunglasses give any outfit a little (okay, a lot) of character. And they’re from Shein, so you can order a pair in every color!

Our pick: Flower Design Fashion Sunglasses from Shein ($3.50, shop here)
