There is a reason for margins on lined paper
Many of you may be unaware that the margins on lined paper have a history. Many rats used to go into homes and into everything they could find around the house when there was a large rat infestation. And although the rat in the movie Ratatouille is not able to read, it definitely enjoys the taste of paper. They normally eat only around the edges, though.
The rats only ate the corners of the paper when it had margins on it. And although this no longer occurs, the margins continue to protect the paper from regular wear and tear. As a result, papermakers created margins to fulfill the mice’s journalistic appetites while also trying to protect the written works. Therefore, you can thank rodents for margins.
