The microwave black grating has a purpose
If you look through the microwave window you can see through, and this means radiation could get out. Microwave oven users often want to view what is cooking inside the oven while avoiding being bombarded by potentially hazardous radiation. Therefore, manufacturers have come up with this solution to prevent microwaves from escaping through the plastic or glass door.
Microwaves are reflected back into the oven using a grating with small holes. Microwaves are too large to travel through the perforations, yet visible light with a wavelength shorter than the opening can flow through the grating with ease. Some microwaves can still leak out through the door seal if you do not clean them on a regular basis.
