Bleach can destroy the protective coating on your hardwood floors
Many people believe that bleach is the only chemical that can truly disinfect any surface, but this is not true. Hardwood floors, for example, can be cleaned with several other products and do not need to be wiped with bleach. In fact, doing so can strip the floor’s protective coating and cause serious damage to the wood.
Without that protective coating, the wood will be left vulnerable to the elements. Moisture can seep in and cause the boards to rot. They can also get dry and suffer cracks, which in turn will generate splinters and make it even harder for you to clean them properly. So, now you know, whatever you do, do not put bleach on wood.
