Wooden cutting boards are better than plastic ones
Most people tend to think that plastics are less porous, and therefore, easier to clean. Nevertheless, when it comes to cutting boards, it is actually the other way around. Plastic cutters are harder to sanitize than wooden ones, so you would be better off sticking to old-fashioned wood or bamboo boards.
Plastic cutting boards can damage your knives, which is never a good thing. It can also liberate microplastics that then get into your food. These substances are already everywhere, so it would not be a good idea to add another dose by using the wrong kind of surface to cut your vegetables on. A wooden board is the way to go.
