Customize the base with colored mason jars
Chances are that you use mason jars for drinking a fresh smoothie during the summertime or preserving food. Well, these inexpensive containers can be repurposed to serve as the base for your table lamp. You could fill them with sand or pebbles, paint them an exciting pattern like stars or zig-zag lines, or wrap colorful ribbons around them.

The best part about this idea is that it doesn’t require any special equipment or skills. You’ll only need to drill a hole for the wire to fit through at the side and a second one to fit your lightbulb through the lid. Remember that the size of your shade should be according to your mason jar’s proportions.
