Hey Bestie, Let’s Take Care of Our Skin

April 30, 2025 by Shelley Thompson

A lot of people can probably agree that the road to clear skin is a long and winding one, and once you’re in a good rhythm doing everything you’re supposed to, there is still a good chance you’ll experience a breakout or two in your life for one reason or another. If you find yourself struggling with your skin (don’t worry, almost all of us have been there!) we’ve put together a few of our most helpful tips when it comes to dealing with your skin. Let’s get started!

Never Underestimate the Power of Ice

If you notice that your skin is a bit puffy or just overall kind of dull looking, grab a large bowl and fill it with ice cubes and water, then submerge your face into the ice water. Sure, it’s cold, but not only will doing this wake you right up, but it will also tighten your pores and make your skin feel smooth. If submerging your face into ice-cold water just doesn’t sound like something you want to do, but you do still want the effects, ice rollers work wonders too!

Don’t Skimp on the SPF

We love a healthy dose of sunshine as much as the next person, so we would never tell a person to stay indoors, but if you are heading outside, you absolutely do not want to skimp on the sunscreen. Exposure to UV rays can be damaging in the long run, so save your future self the visible damage and wear throw on sunscreen while you’re young. A lot of skincare companies include some level of SPF in their products, so be on the lookout for such products as you shop for skincare.

Healthy Skin is Hydrated Skin

So don’t skip out on moisturizing your skin. We personally love having a daytime moisturizer (which usually contains some level of SPF) as well as a nighttime moisturizer to put on before bed. The kind of moisturizer you use will depend on your skin needs, so make sure you purchase all of your skincare with those needs in mind.

One Word: Exfoliate.

Something about exfoliating our skin just makes it feel worlds better after we’re done. If you aren’t familiar with this process, exfoliating involves removing all of the dead skin cells from the outer layer of your skin, and this typically leaves your face feeling all kinds of smooth. You can exfoliate by making your own mask with a few ingredients you probably already have laying around your kitchen. There are also a ton of products on the market that will exfoliate your skin if you aren’t exactly a DIY master.
