The temperature only has to drop about 10 – 15 degrees before we’re curling up with a mug of hot cocoa every night. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love a mug of classic Swiss Miss with marshmallows, but admittedly, sometimes we want to be bougie. And since we’ll be curling up with our cocoa for several months, we have plenty of time to get as bougie as we want. Here are a few of our favorite hot cocoa recipes that are just a little ~extra~. We’ve also included just how we would serve these hot cocoas up because the presentation needs to be just as bougie.
Orange Hot Chocolate
We fell in love with the combination of orange and chocolate a long time ago when we tried those chocolate-covered orange jelly roll candies for the first time, so if you too are a fan, then you’ll love this fun take on hot cocoa. We love to serve this orange hot chocolate in a glass mug complete with a dollop of whipped cream, a little orange zest, and a few orange sugar sprinkles just to make it Instagram-worthy. Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate
You can’t go wrong when the flavor of anything is cookies and cream, and we especially mean it when we’re talking about hot chocolate. The secret here is adding finely processed Oreos to your milk as you’re steaming it to give the cocoa itself the flavor or cookies, and not just the topping. (But go heavy on the cookie topping!) Butterbeer Hot Chocolate
Yes, Harry Potter fans, you read that right. We can probably all agree that we would rather be at The Three Broomsticks or The Leaky Cauldron, but that darn Hogwarts letter never came and now we’re stuck here. At least we can have this Butterbeer-inspired hot chocolate to get us through. If you love the combination of chocolate and butterscotch, then you’ll simply devour this. We highly recommend serving this up in a glass stein. Get the full recipe and instructions here.

Caramel Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
Name a better trio than caramel, marshmallows, and hot chocolate. We’ll wait. This caramel marshmallow hot chocolate is guaranteed to warm you right up and satisfy that sweet tooth of yours. We love to serve this up in a copper mug and sprinkle a few sea salt flakes on top. Get the full recipe and instructions here!
