Spring is here and summer is just on the way, so if you’ve got a patio, even a small one, you’re probably itching to be out there. But if you’re space is a little lackluster, you probably have no desire to spend your time out there, and that’s where we come in. Today we’ve got tips that will elevate your space and there will be no leaving your patio for the foreseeable future, we promise you that. Let’s get started!

First things first, clean your space so you have a great base to work with. Remove any dead plants, old hoses, old furniture, anything that is just taking up space out there, and give your patio a good sweep. Now you’ve got a nice, clean space to work with.
Next, lay a rug. Bringing your personal style from the inside to the outside is a great way to make your porch feel connected to the rest of your space. Laying down a rug is a great way to immediately add color and personality to your patio.
Even if you only have a little bit of space, you can incorporate some type of outdoor furniture. If you’ve got enough room, you can nab an entire set and give your guests plenty of room to relax. If you’ve got a smaller space, incorporate one big, comfy chair or hammock and make your patio your own personal oasis.
Build up, not out. The name of the game is to always maximize your space, so for instance, it’s not just a rickety old ladder anymore, now it’s a plant stand.

Mix and Match. Think about the decor in your house and how you’ve incorporated various materials such as wood, concrete, rattan, and various textiles, and follow suit outside. Remember that your patio is just an extension of your home.
String lights elevate any space instantly. Whether you need to buy a single strand or ten strands, strings lights are always worth it and they create the softest, most beautiful glow.
Incorporate some kind of table, preferably one of functionality. If you have space for a larger table, opt for one that has a pit in the middle where you can plant succulents or fill with ice and serve drinks. If you need to opt for a smaller table, make sure there is some kind of storage available.
Don’t skip the small details. Overstuff your couch or chair with throw pillows, incorporate fake plants, candles, art, anything that will make the space uniquely yours. Just be mindful of any weather they may get.
