Test the oil’s temperature with a chopstick
Do you like fried food? We do, too! However, it’s hard to know when the oil is hot enough to start cooking your delicious fried meal, so you probably feel unsure about the right time to drop the food in. Although deep-fry thermometers can help you check the oil’s temperature, you can quickly overcome this issue with any wooden chopstick you’ve got at home.

This trick involves placing a chopstick at the center of the frying pan once the oil has preheated. If the oil bubbles steadily, it’s hot enough to start frying. If the oil bubbles violently, it’s too hot, and you should give it some time to cool off. If the oil bubbles too little, it’s not hot enough. If you have a chopstick at home, give this hack a try next time you make French fries.
