We probably all have a favorite holiday, right? Maybe you live for the days of pumpkin spice lattes, scary slasher movies, and apple picking, or perhaps the Thanksgiving spread just speaks to your soul. Whichever holiday you find yourself positively living for, there is a stop for you at the theme park known as Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. (Yes, we’re serious, that’s the actual name of the town!) Let’s scope it out!
First things first, there are unlimited drinks. There is free parking. And there is free sunscreen. So just to recap you will always have a free, cold, crispy soda in hand, you don’t have to pay extra for parking, and it’s no big deal if you forgot your sunscreen because they offer it free to park guests, so you never have to worry about leaving dehydrated or sunburnt. We’re guessing this is how people fall into joining a cult.
The park is sectioned off into different holidays, you know, Halloween, 4th of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and each section includes holiday-themed rides and concessions to enjoy. The most important thing to note about this is that in the Thanksgiving section, you can get a whole Thanksgiving meal. We’re talking turkey, green beans, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, and various baked bread. Park guests have noted that the food is so good that you don’t even notice that you may find yourself eating in 90+ degree weather. Personally, we don’t recommend the Thanksgiving feast prior to the rides, and we don’t think we have to elaborate.
If you prefer to spend your day poolside versus at an amusement park, then you’re in luck because Holiday World is a combination theme park with Splashin’ Safari water park.
You may be wondering what else there is to do in Santa Claus, Indiana, and the answer? Quite a bit, actually. If you love Christmas we recommend the many Christmas shops and boutiques, the Santa Claus Museum and village, Santa’s Candy Castle, or Santa Claus Post Office where you can send a letter to the big man himself. Are you sensing a theme here? If you would like to do something a little less touristy, there are vineyards, breweries, orchards, and ziplines to check out, and of course, for the history buffs, there are a number of quaint antique shops, the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, Lincoln Pioneer Village and Museum, and the Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
