Who is Ina Garten? We don’t even know where to start. She’s a queen, first of all, also known as the Barefoot Contessa, and also a coastal Grandmother icon. In honor of the author, host, and former staff member of the White House Office of Management and Budget, we put together a list of our favorite things she’s said that frankly made us love her even more. (Which we didn’t think was possible.)
“You don’t have to do everything from scratch. Nobody wants to make puff pastry!”
We couldn’t agree with this sentiment more, and for the record, you will never see us making pasta, puff pastry, or pie crust.
“You can be miserable before you have a cookie and you can be miserable after you eat a cookie but you can’t be miserable while you are eating a cookie.”
Well, she speaks the truth.

“I try to greet my friends with a drink in my hand, a warm smile on my face, and great music in the background, because that’s what gets a dinner party off to a fun start.”
If we were ever greeted by Ina Garten like this, we would just assume we died and went to heaven.
“A good home should gather you up in its arms like a warm cashmere blanket, soothe your hurt feelings, and prepare you to go back out into that big bad world tomorrow all ready to fight the dragons.”
Ina’s words feel like a hug.

“Big sofas for a nap on Sunday afternoon; comfy reading chairs with good light and a view out the window for daydreaming.”
“Cooking is one of the great gifts you can give to those you love.”
Think about it, what’s better than preparing a delicious, home-cooked meal for someone that you care about? Well, eating one prepared for you by someone you care about, we suppose. Either way.
“Most of life’s problems can be solved with a good cookie.”
We would actually go so far as to say a bowl of pasta, a slice of chocolate cake, even some tiramisu could also do the trick.
“I worry that if I don’t challenge myself professionally I’ll lie on the sofa and watch old episodes of Law & Order all day.”
Two words: CAN RELATE.

“You can teach people about cheese, but you can’t teach them to be happy.”
“Anyone who tries to make brownies without butter should be arrested.”
Straight from the queen’s mouth.
“I get up every day, do the best that I can do, and go home and have a good time.”
