Wash pesticides and dirt off produce
People have become more conscious of the food they consume these days. Most vegetables and fruit are grown with pesticides and chemicals that can be detrimental to our health. Besides, they travel hundreds of miles to get onto the supermarket shelves, so they’re often dirty. Switching to organic produce would be the best way to eliminate chemicals from our diet, but it’s expensive and not widely available.
Thankfully, baking soda can help us with this problem too. Mix a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate to every two cups of water in a big bowl and place your fresh fruits and vegetables in the mixture. After letting them soak for a while, rinse them thoroughly using a sponge or a cloth. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy clean, fresh produce without spending a lot of money.
