Secure your old measuring tape
Picture your old measuring tape, lying in the back of that drawer you haven’t opened in three years which also contains a rusty screwdriver and some batteries that don’t work anymore. You’re planning on buying a painting to go in your living room, so you want to measure if it’d fit correctly or not. When you grab your measuring tape, it’s all crumpled.
That’s because you didn’t take care of it in all those years. It isn’t likely that people use these kinds of objects frequently, but when they do, they should be in good condition, right? To prevent your measuring tape from unrolling and getting ruined, roll it and secure it with a rubber band. Then, store it somewhere where other objects won’t remove the band.
