Shopping for groceries can be a nightmare. Some people prefer to make shopping lists and plan out their weekly meals, while others would rather toss everything into a cart and figure it out as they go. Whatever method we may choose, occasionally, our groceries tend to go bad before we even have a chance to eat them or use them. Fortunately, there are some great methods to get the most out of our goods. These techniques that will help goods last longer and reduce waste can also be beneficial to both our wallets and our environment. Here, we bring some of the greatest hacks that exist to help you extend the shelf life of our groceries as much as possible.
Freeze herbs in olive oil so they last longer
We can freeze basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary in an ice cube tray to save time and effort. We’ll always have fresh herbs on hand for dinners like lasagna or pasta without having to go out of our way to find them during the off-season.
The best part about this hack is that we can make herb cubes in batches. We can use an ice tray to freeze them, then put them in a ziplock bag and take them out of the freezer when we need them. This is far better than eating dried herbs.
