Choose What You’ll Sell
Okay, duh, but this really is the first thing you need to figure out. Are you shooting for antiques? Well, antique what? Furniture? Toys? Radios? Jewelry? Choose wisely and stay tremendously interested. Not sure what it is you want to sell? Start with your own stuff.
Next, Think Platforms
Where do you think your item or items will sell best? If you’ve got clothing maybe Poshmark will be your best bet. If you’ve got larger items like furniture maybe a local brick and mortar shop or makers market situation would suit you better.
Take Real Nice Photos
No matter where or how you’re selling your items, you’ll want to take some photos to either list them or show them off, either way, you’ll want the photos to be top-tier. Using natural lighting makes for a high-quality photo, avoid any weird shadows from your surroundings, make sure the photo isn’t blurry, don’t zoom in, and if possible make a background or backdrop for your photos.

Know Your Measurements
One of the questions you’ll get right off the bat is how big something is. Avoid answering this over and over by not only taking the measurements early on but including them in any and all descriptions.
About That Description
Writing descriptions is kind of an art form, this is where the sale really happens if you think about it, because unless a person is looking at your pieces in person, this is where they come to fully understand what it is you’re selling. Rather than trying to come up with a description on the fly, we recommend sitting down and really committing to your description; we’re talking brand, size condition, age, measurements, materials, colors, patterns…
Don’t Forget You’re a Professional
Sometimes people can be exhausting, but we’re going for positive reviews here. So no matter what kind of human you may be dealing with, just remember how you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
