Spring is springing and no one is more excited about it than we are! Aside from sitting outside and enjoying cocktails, trips to the farmer’s market, and saying goodbye to seasonal depression, we’re most excited about busting out our spring wardrobes! Now for most of us, we do have to transition our wardrobe into spring, which essentially means we have to play with our lighter fabrics and layering will be essential, but we’re all about it because hey, at least it’s not chunky sweaters, boots, and coats anymore! Let’s take a look at a few tips for transitioning our wardrobe!
To the Max
Go ahead and get those maxi skirts and dresses out because they are amazing transitional pieces. You can opt to wear a light sweater tucked into a maxi skirt, or over a maxi dress for an extra layer. If you aren’t feelin’ that, then maybe a leather or denim jacket is more your style! Pair your ensemble with some slip-on mules, Docs, or white sneakers to complete your look.
Embrace Spring Palettes

If you’re like us, you’re ready to solely wear pinks, yellows, lavenders, and sages, but if it’s still pretty chilly where you are, you may feel silly or out of place going into wearing spring colors 100%, and that’s okay. Embrace spring colors slowly if you need to by incorporating one piece per outfit at a time.
Blazin’
We’re so beyond chunky coats (hopefully) but not beyond needing an extra layer, at least in the mornings, and we love to layer up with an oversized blazer. Not only will it keep us cozy on a chilly morning, but it looks super chic, and can be taken off without sacrificing the fit later once it warms up.
Wide-Leg Trousers Are Always a Yes

Talk about the perfect transitional piece that is also versatile and trendy. Wide-Leg trousers keep your legs covered, but are often made of a lighter, flowy material so you won’t be sweating out of them come the afternoon. These are also beyond easy to style and layer as you need to. We love to pair a wide-leg trouser with a graphic tee and denim jacket for a casual look. The wide-leg trouser is also a fun, more business casual play on the slouchy jean trend we’ll be seeing a lot of this year!
Get Trenched
You’ll notice a lot of spring transition tips are centered around layering and we have yet another option for you: the trench coat. Trench coats come in all colors, so whether you prefer the classic camel color or you stay pretty in pink, a trench coat may be just what you need to start your day with. Of course, this is another piece that you can easily shed as the day warms up.
