Call us crazy, and we know some of you will, but we love an early morning. Seriously! The house is quiet, we can enjoy a cup (or two or three) of coffee, and we can just kind of take our time meandering around getting ready to start the day. But for some of us, mornings can be a big struggle; and we get it, that snooze button is tempting, especially this time of the year when it’s much easier just to snuggle down a little deeper for just ten more minutes. And then ten more. And before you know it it’s 8:15, and you have to be at work by 8:00. If you’re looking for ways to become more of a morning person, we’ve got your back! Here are our tips for becoming a morning person. Or at least trying to.

Develop a nighttime routine. Developing a nighttime routine (and sticking to it) will shoot a signal to your brain that hey, it’s about that time again. Everybody’s nighttime routine will look a little different, so it may take a little trial and error for you to get yours down, and that’s okay. Consider the following scenarios as you work out your ideal routine: setting a bedtime, putting down the electronics, bedtime tea, a warm bath, stretching, reading, turning on some essential oils, and/or dimming the lights.
Get a good night’s sleep. This is easier said than done for a lot of us, and it’s key to making sure we’re waking up early and jump-starting our day. If you find yourself awake at all hours of the night or waking up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep, consider natural remedies such as melatonin or CBD oil.

Start your day gradually. Most of us are probably familiar with the panic associated with that moment you’ve realized you’ve slept in on accident, yeah, that’s not good for your mind or body. Consider opting for an alarm that’s pleasant sounding or one that imitates the sun rising, this will guarantee a nice, slow start to your morning.
Romanticize your morning. By this, we mean to have something to look forward to like a hot cup of coffee, a healthy, nutritious breakfast, or even just the idea of an hour or so to yourself.

Go forth with understanding. If you are not naturally a morning person, this can be a big change. Go into this big change with the understanding that even a little progress is still progress. In time, waking up early and enjoying your mornings will be second nature to you. Enjoy the process.
