Whether you spend a lot of time in your kitchen or a little time in your kitchen, and if you’re anything like us, you see that room a lot more since the pandemic started, you want it to look nice. But it doesn’t take much for any remodel or even all new decor to add up cost-wise. So we put together a few of our best budget-friendly updates that will make your space look like a million bucks! (Without spending even close to that!) Let’s get started!
Paint Those Cabinets

Painting cabinets, especially if you go polar opposite of their original color, can totally transform your entire kitchen; this is also significantly cheaper than replacing your cabinets. And if you really want to make big changes, replace the hardware while you’re at it.
Add Art
We simply love art in every room of our homes and the kitchen is no exception! Nab an eclectic piece of art from a local thrift store, perhaps a minimalist print from Ikea or World Market, or even create your own to display. If you have the space, gallery walls are a great way to add color and personality to the kitchen.
Dress up the Cabinets

If you mostly love your cabinets but think a little something is missing, consider styling the area above your cabinets. This will create a lot of interest and dimension in a space that often gets overlooked. This is also a great opportunity for you to let your creative juices flow. You can opt for vintage kitchen books, plants, vintage dishware, whatever suits your decor.
Put a Rug in it
If you’ve got the floor space, find an area rug for the kitchen; an area rug will add color and personality, but it will also make the room feel bigger than it is.
Add a Backsplash
A backsplash is one of those things that you don’t realize you need until you have it, then you can’t believe you never had one. And there are a ton of peel and stick backsplash options available in just about any color or style. If you already have a backsplash, but you just don’t love it anymore, a lot of peel and stick backsplashes can simply be placed on top of the original backsplash.
DIY Your Dining Set

Depending on what kind of dining room table and chairs you have, consider giving them a total makeover. While this may sound like a huge project to take on, it really doesn’t have to be. Paint what you can, just to refresh the color or go a whole new direction – we’ll leave that decision up to you, reupholster your chairs, and maybe consider a new stain on the tabletop, and bada-bing, you have a whole new dining area!
