Luxe Decorating On a Budget: How to Make Resin Art Decor at Home

November 2, 2024 by Shelley Thompson

Although crafting has become quite popular, especially when it comes to decoration, resin art is one aspect that many see as ‘professional-only.’ But then, buying resin art decoration can be relatively expensive, you’ll agree. Well, it’ll amaze you to know that resin art can easily be done at home- so what’s stopping you from using your creative energy? This article is the guide you need, so let’s get into it.

Resin Photo Art

Resin coating creates a hard finish over different materials- and this makes it a good option when it comes to preserving photos. To preserve and also beautify your photos, you can use resin; the whole process is a simple one.

Trim your photo to fit inside your resin mold, then spread the resin to cover the surface completely. Then, heat the resin with a heat gun and eradicate any bubbles before it becomes completely dry.

Resin Napkin Ring

If we’re being honest, napkin rings aren’t really everyday items- either in the kitchen or on the dining table. However, with festive holidays like Valentine’s Day fast approaching, you’ll be bringing out those celebratory rings.

You can take your wooden napkin ring from zero to a hundred with resin art. All you need to do is fill a candy mold with sugar sprinkles and top it with resin for a sweet accent.

Floral Paperweight

Who said paperweights have to be all functional with no aesthetics at all? These small tools can also beautify your table while holding stray documents down. So, how do you make a floral paperweight?

Pour resin into a paint mixing cup with mold release. For the floral part, use a toothpick to float dried flowers in the resin at different levels. Then pop the paperweight out of its mold after 24 hours of drying.

Homemade Resin Buttons

From throw pillows to sweaters, buttons can be used to decorate almost everything in the house. It’s so amazing that you can make resin buttons yourself; you can make them in different colors, too!

First, you’ll have to buy a button-shape resin mold and your preferred acrylic paint color. Then, stir in a bit of the acrylic crafts paint to color the resin in the button mold. If the resin has blocked the holes, remove the button from the mold and poke through the holes.

Cube Resin Craft

We love the fact that dried foliage doesn’t fade when covered in resin crafts. You can make a beautiful resin craft by filling your mold with clear resin and inserting blooms into it with a pointed stick.

However, if you’re dealing with one large flower, you should center it in the bottom of a square resin mold. Then, remove bubbles by warming the mixture with a heat gun. Then, let it dry for a few hours.
