We Hate Humidity and Here’s How We’re Dealing With It

April 25, 2022 by Shelley Thompson

While it’s not quite summer, officially, there are a lot of us that are already dealing with the hot, sticky, steamy weather phenomena known as humidity. If you live in an area where humidity isn’t a thing, keep scrolling and know that we’re extremely jealous, if you too break out into a sweat the second you walk outside, then stick with us, we have tips for dealing with your hair and skin this summer.

A little dab of leave-in conditioner will do ya. Just the idea of adding moisture to your hair on a humid day may seem like a waste of time, but the thing is, humidity pulls the moisture out of your hair and that’s how you get left with a poofy mess. So just a little dollop of light leave-in conditioner after your shower will leave your locks feeling the love.

When it comes to skin, the best thing you can do is keep your face clean. With all of the humidity, you’re bound to be sweating a lot and all of that sweat clogs your pores, so if you need to wash your face three times a day, then so be it. Just don’t overdo it to the point of your face drying out.

A good anti-frizz product is your new summertime essential. Anti-frizz products are lightweight and keep your hair smooth even on the hottest, most humid of days.

Exfoliating your skin is important during every season and hot summer days full of humidity are no different. Not only does this make your skin feel incredible, but it gets deep within your pores getting all the yuck out.

After you get out of the shower, but before your hair is dry, but after it’s no longer dripping wet, go ahead and start adding some hold products to your hair. Adding products designed to put a little hold on your hair at this time, will ensure your hair will be easier to work with later.

Use a clay, we repeat, clay, face mask. Clay masks are not only all-natural and soothing to your skin, but they dry it out in the best way possible by absorbing extra oil from the skin.

Finish off your hairstyle with an anti-frizz climate protection hairspray. And speaking of styling your hair, don’t get too crazy while doing it, and, in fact, opt to stick with your natural texture. If you have wavy hair, play it up. Humid days are not the days to use a lot of heat and product on your hair.
