Floss can be better at cutting cakes than knives
It is always nerve-racking to be chosen to cut the cake at a party. The knife may be dull and not go through the whole cake, or it may get covered in frosting and start to drag, making the slices messier and messier as you go along. Here is a tip straight from professional baker’s books that will give you clean, even slices.
Instead of using a knife, use some dental floss. Grab a piece long enough to go over the diameter of the cake and make sure you leave room enough to wrap the ends around your hands. Then, simply push down and you will have a clean, straight cut. Repeat until all the slices are ready to share with your guests.
