Why do bottles have such long necks?
Some people may never wonder why they make long-neck bottles when an average-sized bottle may work just fine. The shape of a beer or a soda bottle can be so familiar that sometimes nobody would think twice about it. But as it turns out, long bottlenecks are shaped this way on purpose. Here is why your favorite beverage comes in a particular shape container.

Such design allows packers to seal off the top with a small bottle cap, reducing the size of the seal, and therefore, saving money. Moreover, it is practical, since a small seal on a beverage container may be stronger and more reliable than one which covers a larger area. Also, you will not warm your beer when you grab it by the neck.
